NEW YEAR INSPIRATION
Just write it down and make it possible.
It’s December, wow they’re not kidding when they say time flies. But who are they anyways? A question for another time. Alas, another year has passed moreover, another decade. This December, we want to encourage you to reflect on the past, to take stock of what you accomplished, where you fell short, and all of the unexpected things that transpired good or bad. This activity will help you get grounded and stay clear so you can be intentional about your goals and aspirations for the year ahead. But this December as we gear up to enter the year 2020 a symbol of perfect vision and a new decade, we encourage you to dream bigger and think about what the next 10 years might look like!
What do you envision for your life? That question may feel dauting but don’t worry, we have lots of inspiration to share with you to get your juices flowing. Here are a few headlines of female superheroes that motivated us:
✈️ Lynne Hoppper was named Boeing’s first female Chief Airplane Engineer
👩🏽🎓 Haben Girma, a deaf & blind woman conquered Harvard Law
👩🏼🎤 17 year old Billie Eilish made Grammy history
🎼 Jeanee Fleenor was the first woman ever nominated for Musician of the year
🙋🏽 Eileen Filler-Corn was nominated to be the first female speaker in VA House
🎬 Anna Boden, the first woman ever nominated for best Director finally got her Oscar
💃🏿 Camille A. Brown was the first black female Choreographer nominated for a Tony Award in over two decades
👩🏽🚀👩🏽🚀 The first all-women spacewalk made history
👏🏻 And in 2019 more women were elected to US congress than ever before
The astronauts Jessica Meir, right, and Christina Koch, aboard the International Space Station.
Inspiring or what? Just wait we’ve got more coming your way soon! But, here’s the thing, we want you to really take this in … they say that people who write down their goals are 90% more likely to achieve them. Maybe you’ve heard the phrase “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail” so what do you have to lose? Nothing! Another phrase we absolutely love is “you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start somewhere if you want to be great!
Do yourself a favor this December, let go of all those false and limiting beliefs that have held you back in the past, stop playing small and be decided about what you want for yourself and in your life and go after it! Don't give up! You don’t have to be great at a lot of different things, just pick one thing that you’re good at, that brings you joy and that allows you to serve the world. Create and cultivate the attitude that will take you where you want to be.
Cheers to you, your dreams and the amazing future that lies ahead!
Remember, empowered women, empower women.

TONY’S 2019 THANK YOU for the LOVE! It means so much!!! It was an amazing night filled with excitement and joy. The men of Choir Boy DANCED!!! So proud!!! It was very special to share it with my mom- who introduced me to theater when I was 4 years old! She got crazy camera time too!!! Congratulations to all the nominees and winners! Shouting out my peeps! @andre_deshields @jasonmichaelwebb @rachel.chavkin @fitzpatton Sergio Trujillo @egoconcepts @clintramos @derrick.baskin @jeremypope @ephsykes @domorisseau INSPIRED BY YOUR WORK! I have always loved theater but had doubts about whether or not I could have a voice because there were so few reflections of myself in the role of Choreographer. Lifting up @joydances8 and Dianne McIyntre who have guided me through this journey and who are pillars for all of us. Lifting up every Black female choreographer that has contributed to the world of theater. The middle space between visibility and invisibility is real. We must always show up for ourselves and the people who paved the way through exhaustion, fear, and perseverance. THANK YOU to my community!!! I can’t do any of this without you. Special shout out to Associate Choreogrpaher Rickey Tripp aka “My G”, and @divinegoodwine who helped me build and sustain my company while supporting my efforts to have a career in theater. It’s definitely a challenge to balance, and seems impossible at times, but when community has you, anything is possible.
